SUMMER CAMPS 2008

INDIAN CAMP AT THE MISSION
JuNE 23rd - June 27th | 9 AM - 1 PM

This camp promises to engage, enlighten & educate for a whole week but most importantly your child will have fun with hands on activities learning about the Indians and the environment.

In this incredibly unique camp, taught by Juaneno Indian, Jacque Nunez, your child will celebrate culture, diversity and California’s rich heritage. Using the same techniques that the California Indians did, campers will weave baskets, create jewelry, use clapper sticks and paint on gourds and rocks. The children will take part in various Indian games and activities such as singing, dancing and story-telling, experiencing a time when people lived in harmony with Mother Earth.

Campers will learn how rabbit fur was used and gain an appreciation of the impor-tant role that animals played in Native American culture. Indian Camp is a wonderful opportunity to teach children about the history of California, the Mission and the Gold Rush eras, in a wholesome, outdoor setting where they participate in hands-on activities including panning for gold, making arrowheads and squishing mud through their toes to make adobe bricks!
